The Cell Phone, its usefulness in the work-a-day world and my adventures in getting accustomed to my Samsung T509

Dear prospective cell phone user,

Greetings from one who is newly launched in the world of the cell phone. I got my 2nd cell phone ever 2 weeks ago after being 5 years without one.

Technology certainly has advanced!

The phone I had before was with Verizon and it was a bit clunky and basic. I used it as a modem for my desk top as that was a very convenient way to do it!

But now I have a Samsung T509 and it is strets ahead of the other. Instead of a text based screen menu, there is now a graphics menu and there is more to view on the screen. Whereas before I had a choice of 6 things on the old phone, I now can choose amongst 9 in color! This phone is very sleek and looks like a modern piece of equipment. Not only can it take photos, but also 30 seconds of video. And it downloads to a web site from which you can pull it! I have nt figured out how to view the video as it is in 3ga format, but I will get it figured out real soon.

Guess what network I am trying this phone out with?

Verizon? No! Cingular? No! Sprint? No!

Well it is T-mobile. So far I get 5 bars at home and work and a lot of the time on the bus in between. So I am well pleased.

And guess what! I get 600 minutes for $39.99 a month! I doubt that your plan can beat that!

I use my cell as an alarm clock. The alarm goes off even if the phone is turned off! Magic eh?

Well, have to go as I need to check out some more of the doodads on this phone!

Cheers,

Stephan
